School Design A Planter Competition
Home » School Design A Planter Competition
The Shrewsbury in Bloom Design a Planter Competition is now running, inviting local schools to take part in a creative challenge and be part of the Heart of England in Bloom 2026 campaign.
Organised by Shrewsbury Town Council and Shrewsbury in Bloom, the competition encourages pupils to use their imagination, creativity and love of nature to help shape the town’s floral displays.
The Challenge
Pupils are asked to design a floral planter using a 5 x 5 grid, which represents the 5ft x 5ft square planters located in The Square in Shrewsbury town centre.
Design templates are provided and should be completed by pupils and returned to their teacher for submission.
Bringing Designs to Life
The winning designs will be brought to life by the council’s horticultural team, becoming real floral displays for residents and visitors to enjoy. Representatives from the winning schools will be invited to see their designs in full bloom. Certificates will be presented to the winners by the Heart of England in Bloom judges at the conclusion of the 2026 judging tour at Shrewsbury Museum.
