We need your help to keep Shrewsbury blooming, whatever your skills or interests there are plenty of things you can do to get involved.

How about starting a community litter pick? Or perhaps you have a beautiful garden that you would like to show off or enter into our annual horticultural competitions?

The Shrewsbury In Bloom Committee's aims and vision include:

Conserving and improving our historic legacy and environment whilst developing a sustainable, exciting and diverse economy.

Involving people directly in improving the quality of life for the town and having a sense of pride in the area.

Improving awareness of Shrewsbury Town Council regionally, nationally and internationally.

Shrewsbury Town Council has a commitment to improve the environment by establishing effective partnership working, researching residents' needs, promoting access to the countryside, improving the quality of open space and developing sustainable practices.

Shrewsbury’s reputation as the “Town of Flowers” is something the whole community helps create.

Through Shrewsbury in Bloom, residents, businesses, schools and volunteers work together to make our town greener, cleaner and more welcoming for everyone. From colourful floral displays and community planting projects to environmental initiatives and neighbourhood improvements, every contribution helps make Shrewsbury a place we can all be proud of.

You don’t need to be an expert gardener to get involved. Whether you enjoy organising projects, volunteering outdoors, supporting community groups or simply want to help brighten your neighbourhood, there are many ways to play a part.

Join the Shrewsbury in Bloom Committee

The Shrewsbury in Bloom committee brings together volunteers who help guide and support the town’s Bloom activities.

Committee members help with:

  • planning and coordinating Bloom projects across the town

  • supporting community groups and volunteers

  • developing new environmental and greening initiatives

  • organising entries for regional and national Bloom competitions

  • helping showcase the fantastic work happening across Shrewsbury

We meet regularly throughout the year and welcome people with a wide range of skills and interests.

You don’t need specialist knowledge – enthusiasm for Shrewsbury and a willingness to get involved are what matter most.

Volunteer in the Community

There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, whether you can spare an hour occasionally or want to get involved more regularly.

Activities may include:

  • community planting days

  • helping maintain public flower beds and planters

  • supporting environmental projects

  • litter picks and tidy-up events

  • assisting with Bloom judging visits or events
