Community Responsibility
One of the three criteria Shrewsbury is judged on by regional and national judges in the Heart of England in Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions is the level of Community Participation taking place in the town.

Year Round Activity & Future Commitment
The regional judges look for evidence of forward planning and year round activities, initiatives or events, highlighting where they are adding value and demonstrating the strengths or uniqueness of the entry.
Communication, Education & Awareness
The regional judges look for use of suitable interpretation, enabling learning and a greater understanding of
purpose, and environmental importance. They also want to see examples of engagement with schools, young people
or other groups. There should also be promotion within the immediate area through local and regional communications.
Support and Funding
The regional judges look for evidence that Shrewsbury's bloom campaign has made every effort to be inclusive and engage the support of a wide variety of local groups and organisations.
Participation should always be representative of the local community. There should be evidence of fundraising and on-going support from a range of businesses and organisations appropriate to the size of the entry, making it viable and able to continue moving forward.
